Semb Raspatory is a Cardiothoracic surgical instrument which has a multitude of uses in the operating room. It features a slightly barrel shaped handle that narrows into the shaft and then flares out again to form the blade. A unique feature of the Semb raspatory is, it is available in a wide range of different blades shapes including an angular blade with a notch or straight, edges an angular curved round blade or slightly curved round blade. This instrument used when trying to access the first rib, but the wide array of blade shapes and sizes makes it a highly versatile instrument.
